South Park

I have been watching lots of South Park lately. It’s one of my favorite shows! I love Trey Parker and Matt Stone sooooo much! A lot of people have issues with this show, but for me I’m not too often bothered by it’s content. Once in a while there will be something offensive but it doesn’t get to me because Trey and Matt clearly don’t discriminate-they make fun of EVERYTHING. They often make points on issues that are just common sense but people end up in uproars over. I love that they touch on political issues, religious issues, and just real life. Another reason I’m not bothered by the content of the show is they are usually good at seeing both sides of the coin. For example, I read somewhere a while back that when they aired the episode called “About Last Night” when Obama won the presidency they had another episode prepared just in case Mccain won. I really like how they can take and issue and present it in an obvious manner or point out outrageous aspects to ideas. For instance the episode “Pee” where the kids go to a waterpark and how people pee in the water and also touched on how minorities can be predominant at such a location (making Caucasians a minority) – this was put into a lovely song,  sung by none other than Eric Cartmen. Among my favorite episodes are: ‘Trapped in the Closet,” “Two Days Before the Day after Tomorrow,” “Free Wilzyax,” “Meet the Jeffersons,” and “Marjorine.” I also watched two other Trey Parker/Matt Stone films this week! I watched “Cannibal: The Musical” for the first time and really liked it! I also watched “Baseketball” which I own and is definitely a favorite! I would LOVE to work for Trey and Matt :)

"Saw" series

I have spent the last three nights watching the first 3 Saw movies with a friend that has never seen them. I absolutely LOVE the storyline of these movies. While they’re extremely popular for their gore I enjoy the character plot more than any other aspect. After I’ve seen the movie once I will look away for most of the gore the following times I watch. I see no point in torturing myself through watching others scream and suffer again. I love the main characters that continue on each movie. I have read about and talked to several people about this series and find that many people like 2 the most. I find this strange because for me it’s one of my least favorites. After thinking in depth about this I think the reason I enjoy it least is because there are SO MANY characters in it that I don’t get attached to any particular story and ultimately don’t care what their fate is. The only part I really care for is the exchanges that go on between Jigsaw/John Kramer and Detective Matthews. Other than the character plot, the technical aspects are something I really love! I think the Saw series have my favorite edited movies. I love all the transitions and always find myself saying “WOW that was an amazing transition, HOW did they do that???!”…it’s something I pay attention to and just really enjoy. The music is also AMAZING- I love the Saw Theme song which was composed by a member of Nine Inch Nails. I love how when you hear it segueing in at the end you know everything  is about to come together (and then still leave you hanging). Can’t wait for number 4 TONIGHT :)
